Resident of Santa Clara
Manuel S. Escobar, 80 years old, of Santa Clara California passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 22nd, 2013 at Clare Bridge Memory Care in Richland Hills, Texas after a battle with Parkinson's Disease.
He was born on September 11, 1933 on the Azores island of Faial, Portugal to Manuel Mariano Escobar and Rose DaSilva Escobar.
Manuel joined the United States Air Force in 1951 and became a US Citizen. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the Air Force in 1971, Manuel worked for the City of Santa Clara as a Supervisor.
He is survived by former wife Nancy Gambino Escobar of Elk Grove, CA.; brothers Anthony (Rita) of Sunnyvale, CA. and Joseph (Linda) of San Jose, CA.; sisters Gabriela Orlando (Fred) of Auburn, CA. and Mary Constant of Sunnyvale, CA.; daughters Rosemarie Bittner (Richard) from Saginaw, Texas and Theresa Weishaar (Todd) from McKinney, Texas; sons, Michael Escobar (Marie) and Christopher Escobar of Elk Grove, California; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and many, many, extended family members and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Manuel M. Escobar and Rose Escobar, first wife, Rosa Joyce Lott Escobar, and son David Anthony Escobar.
Memorial Mass at Villa Siena Senior Living Community Chapel in Mt. View at 9:30 a.m. on January 4th, 2013. Inurnment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery graveside at 11:30 a.m. Military rites will be provided by Santa Clara VFW and American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation at www.pdf.org.
