Margaret (Carlson) Thiel

Dec. 21, 1918 - Dec. 6, 2010
With great sadness, the family of Margaret Thiel announces her passing on Dec. 6, 2010, just before her 92nd birthday.
Margaret was born to August and Marie Carlson in Blackhoof, MN. She moved to Calif. in the early 1940's. She married Louie Thiel, her husband of 52 years. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed. For over 30 years, she worked alongside her husband in a family business, Thiel Plastering and then Fischer & Thiel Plastering with son-in-law Bob Fischer. She was a great homemaker who enjoyed entertaining family and friends; there was always a party at the Thiels. She enjoyed the Cypress Senior Center, Bingo at The Veterans every Sunday, and for over 30 years bowling at Fiesta Lanes.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Louis (1995), daughter Carolyn Smith (2009), sisters Lucy Dunn & Astrid Palmer, brother John Carlson and her parents August & Marie Carlson. She is survived by daughter Peggy (Bob) Fischer, son Dan (Lois) Thiel, grandchildren, Ren‚e & Lara Smith, Rob (Michelle) & Mike Fischer, Jamie (John) Vierra, Sandy & Mark Thiel, great grandchildren, Nick Fischer, Maya, David & Devyn Phillips. She is also survived by brother Arvid Carlson and Ruth Besaw both of Minnesota. Private interment at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery Dec. 20, 2010.

Aunt Margaret was such a nice person and so generous. One year for Christmas she made my sisters and I nightgowns with velcro. This velcro stuff was new on the market, it was so interesting!! Another time, she made me a dress that I wanted so badly. This was how Margaret was - she had her own kids to sew for, but she always gave of herself. She had a lot of friends because she was friendly non-judgemental and understanding. I'll miss her too.
