MARION SCHREY Obituary

MARION A. (GUSKEY) SCHREY
August 16, 1919 - June 6, 2011
Resident of Redwood City
On Monday, June 6, 2011 at 1:18pm, passed away peacefully among loved ones in her Redwood City home, where she had lived since 1954. Marion was precdeceased by her husband Joseph R. Schrey in 2005, and her mother Elma Smirl, her father Raymond Guskey and her grandmother Ida Broderick. Marion is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert R. and Karen M. Schrey of Victoria, B.C. and William Schrey of Redwood City. Also surviving her is her loving grandson, Brandon Schrey of Santa Rosa. Marion was born and raised in San Jose, CA and lived in Oakland, San Francisco, and San Bruno before settling in Redwood City. Mom worked for the Corps of Engineers during WWII and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. She loved her family, contributed to charitable causes, was an avid newspaper reader and enthusiastic and knowledgeable follower of current events. Mom was a loving and loyal mother, wife, mother-in-law and grandmother. Mom had a heart of gold and was a model of compassion, tolerance and acceptance. Mom put other's interests ahead of her own and she was a hard worker. Mom had a great sense of humor, and lots of wisdom honed from growing up in the Great Depression and WWII years. We love you mom, we miss you, we are grateful for the time we had with you, and are comforted in knowing you are now in a better place. Thanks mom for all that you did for us your whole life, and for being strong enough to tell us you love us right to the final moments. Thank you for these gifts and for countless others that we shall always carry with us in our hearts. Services were held in a graveside ceremony at 2pm Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Skylawn Memorial Park.
