Mary Jo Appel
Resident of Paicines, CA
Age 82, beloved wife of John W. Appel, Esq., died peacefully at her ranch in Paicines, California on January 7th, 2011.
Born March 29, 1928, in Topeka, Kansas, Mary Jo graduated from UC Berkeley in 1949 and worked for a San Jose law firm until her retirement in 1988. Mary Jo was an active golfer, fisherman, hunter, horseback rider and UC Berkeley athletic fan.
Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, John W. Appel; sister, Pat Fraser; niece, Sue Foster and step-daughter, Patti Appel.
Mary Jo will be remembered by all who knew her for her wonderful zest for life, love of animals, kindness, honesty and humor. To beat her in any kind of a wager was next to impossible.
As per her wishes arrangements have been made for cremation and private inurnment.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mary Jo through my Mother Lucille with whom she was very good friends. I recall a fond memory of being at the ranch and John made us his delicious chili recipe! She was a neat lady with an infectious positive spirit. Her affinity to animals is one to be admired. My condolences to Mary's family.

Sorry to hear about Mary Jo. I have great memories of the ranch and she and Johns wonderful hospitality. She was a dear friend of my mother Lucille for many years. She will be greatly missed.
