Michael hired me right out of the Navy. I would go by the name Andy but He said when he hears the name Andy, he thought of a chubby little boy with balloons eating a ice cream cone. When I see you, I see a big man named Andrew. We will call you Andrew. And with that he became a mentor in the Summerfield Suites San Jose and Santa Clara. He recommended me for a GM position with the Homewood Suites which became a huge stepping stone to become a regional Director of Sales and Marketing for a large hospitality company. We lost track when I moved out of town. I was remembering my career growth and looked up Michael only to find out he went with the Lord. What wonderful memories he left me with and helped mold my career in sales and marketing, general managing and regional management. Lord bless your family my friend. I shall see you again in the sky with our Lord Jesus.

I met Michael many years ago as a friend and roommate of my mom's. He always made us laugh through his great sense of humor and witty sarcasim. Although we haven't seen him in years, I thought of him often and have never forgotten his heartwarming smile. He'll be missed.

I don't where to begin, met Michael while working at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo. We became very good friends, he was supportive when I needed it most and remember helping him through his Mother's passing. We also had lots of fun going places, doing things in town, movies. That's all we could afford. Laughing on the phone, watching Wheel of Fortune together while on the phone when it first came on the air.(Yes, while on the phone)That's why we laught too because people would think we were nuts! Oh well.
Laughter and supportive friend, not afraid to be real with his friends. That's what I remember about my special friend Michael.
Love you and miss you.

Mike was my neighbor when we were in High School. We became good friends and shared some lifetime memories together. Eating a whole watermelon together in his backyard. Watching the movie "Brian's Song" and both crying. Riding around in his car. I have always had a special place for Michael in my heart and always will.My heart goes out to his Family and Friends.

I met Michael through a mutual friend, and we became friends as the years moved on. Michael had a wonderful happy go lucky smile and laughter about life and never let anything bring that down. Michael’s presents will be missed by all his friends here in the San Francisco bay area, and most of all by me. I will always remember him as my friend and brother. Your life will be celebrated and remembered with love by those who you touched in life. I’ll miss your smile and laughter buddy. Many blessings to his family.

It is so wonderful to see so many warm memories from Michael's family and friends. It is especially telling to see comments from co-workers. Michael truly was a kind and generous man who was loved by all who knew him. We met many years ago through friends and established a Friday tradition of dinner at Roosevelt's Tamale Parlor in San Francisco's Mission district. Michael had the longest drive, yet he always made a point of being there. The group reveled in his stories about his friends, co-workers, pets and celebrities. His love for all things Cher was legendary. The last time he saw her, he won over the usher and got seated in the front row. He told us how Cher came out on stage and did a double-take when she saw this "crazy Mexican" sitting in the VIP seat. Like all of us, I'm certain she will sing a little sadder now that Michael is no longer there to cheer her, and us, on.

I met Mike a Kaweah Delta when he worked in the kitchen. Mike was kind of the catalist, he was the guy that made every outing a great time. Indeed the world is a little darker with your passing, but hey look on the bright side. Now you can teach everyone in heaven the Hustle. Miss ya buddy.

Michael will indeed be missed! Truly a kind and giving person with a positive energy and wonderful sense of humor. Not to mention an infatuation with all things Cher!!! Which made me feel ok with my Olivia obsession - granted, not quite in the same league as his but...
Thanks for setting such a good example for others by being a compassionate person. Like others have said, you were a great boss thanks in large part to your kindness as a person. Heck, I would have never been hired by AMC "back in the day" had it not been for Michael. That turned out to be an enjoyable 7-year run with many lasting friendships made. Thank you for that, Michael.
Rest in peace my friend. Your spirit will remain with us all. I look forward to the bay area celebration later. Your life deserves to be celebrated!

I have great memories of Mike. I wish that we hadn't have lost touch over the years. I remember Him and I and Cheryl Becker driving to Hollywood in 1975 and going to Cher's house. He was so excited that he couldn't drive and had to lay down in the back of his van. He was so much fun to be around the life of the party. Going to I think maybe his first Cher concert in 1976, Disneyland and so many other fun times. I have missed him and will continue to miss him. Love you Mike

Michael you will be missed!!!
Michael has always been like a dad and great friend to me, while I was far
away from my family. Michael has given me so many good advices and we
have experienced so many great things together.
Michael has also been the greatest boss ever!
Michael was alway honest to me and that is so hard to find. He never
held back with his true feelings. I always admired that on him.
I am so happy that I was able to see Michael last year again. I do not
understand why it had to happen, but Michael is always in my thoughts and
I will never forget him.
You will stay in my heart forever my dear Michael. Thanks for everything!
Rest in peace!!!

I've had a few bosses in my day. Michael was by far "THE" best. He had such zest for life that had no equal. His sincerity was something to be admired. I learned from him that everyone should be treated as a friend. Michael, indeed had two loves: his pets and Cher. I remember the time when I surprised him with photoshopped image of him with Cher. It brought such a smile to his face. I wish I had expressed to you what a positive impact you had in my life. I will sorely miss you my friend, my boss, my teacher, Michael.

Michael was my boss. He was my boss for the better part of seven years at the Staybridge/Summerfield Suites. I never expected to like him, yet he had quite a way of growing on you. Michael had such a lust for life which was quite infectious. Michael was such a great manager. He definitely knew how to delegate tasks and had it down to science. And he was amazing at keeping the workplace in such harmony. I truly appreciated how he had my back at work and always protected me from upper management. And I want to thank you Michael for hiring pretty young girls to keep me motivated at work. :) I learned much about how to handle myself under stressful conditions and what to do when interacting with guests. Michael treated everyone like a friend, which I try my best to emulate. I hope you know wherever you are that you had such a positive effect upon my life. I never expected you to leave this world so soon. I wish I told you while you were alive. Michael I will sorely miss you.

I worked with Michael at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo. He had a gift to make everyone feel special, a great sense of humor and generous probably to a fault! I remember his crush on Cher. He would go on for hours about going to see her. The world is a bit darker now that he is not here.

My Michael...we shared so many good times I can't even begin. The one that sticks in my mind most was our trip to Japan with David and Uri. You showed your most generous spirit by going to a place you didn't even think you would like but you knew it was the place I loved and wanted to go to more than any other place in the world! This taught me a lesson because you ended up loving it, you were willing to do this for me. I will try to be more like you, always giving love to your friends.
