Ed McGowen, 81, passed away in Campbell on September 4th. Ed was born in Charleston, Arkansas. His family moved to Campbell, where Ed completed elementary and high school and met Diane Ford, his wife of 62 years.
Following his graduation from San Jose State University, Ed continued his Army ROTC training and became an officer in the 11th Airborne paratroop corps. Ed, Diane and family moved to Augsburg, Germany and later Ft. Lewis, Washington where Ed was assigned military duties. Ed was a
After his military service, Ed joined the Los Gatos Police Department retiring as lieutenant. Ed was a founding member and past President of the Santa Clara County Peace Officers' Association.
Ed leaves behind Diane and four children: Michael (Robie); Brian, and Debbie (Barry), plus Patricia (deceased), and eight grandchildren and one great-grand daughter. Our family would like to thank Carmen Garcia, Gentiva Hospice, and the Princess Lodge in Campbell for their compassion and loving care of Ed.
A service in celebration of Ed's life will be held at Chapel of the Roses, Oak Hill Cemetery, on October 4th at 11am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to
