Peter Hampel Obituary

Peter Joseph Hampel, II

Resident of Los Altos

Jan. 4, 1934 - Oct. 29, 2010

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather Peter J. Hampel II passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Oakland CA, moved to Palo Alto when he was 12. He graduated from Palo Alto High School, then moved to Los Altos with his wife, Carol, where he resided for the past 54 years.

Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Kathleen Hampel and sister Josephine Brunel. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol, daughters Kathleen Sherwood (Steve) and Sandra McPartland (Bruce), sons Mike Hampel (Catherine), and Peter Hampel III (Laura), brother Harold (Adele) Hampel, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Pete was so many things to so many people. Quiet and unpretentious, he was someone who did the right thing in all he endeavored. Pete had a high standard for perfection and quality in all his work. A master of many skills, Pete loved working with his hands. He was the ultimate craftsman and enjoyed the challenge of helping others with their "fix it" needs. He was beyond reproach in ethics and beliefs.

Please join us in a Celebration of Life, held at the Hampel residence in Los Altos on Saturday, November 6th at noon. Please bring or send thoughts or stories of Pete to share. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
