Ramona Peck Obituary

Ramona Peck 1

Resident of San Jose

1916 - 2011

Ramona Peck died peacefully at her home in San Jose on Sunday, January 9, four years after the death of her beloved and handsome husband of sixty-five years, Robert Peck. She grew up with her parents and many brothers and sisters in her home town of Key West, Florida. Ramona lived the life of a Navy wife in following Robert to many duty stations - from Key West to California - before settling in San Jose in the 1950's. She was manager for more than twenty years of the Stevens Creek Emporium silver department, admired and loved by her employees and her many faithful customers. She had been a member of the California State Troopers tap-dancing troupe, presenting programs at Bay Area senior centers and county fairs. Ramona was a member of the Willow Glen Senior Center and faithful participant in their weekly Bingo Club meetings.

She is remembered with all tenderness by her children, Marcia, Gregory and his wife Joan, and Jon Stanley; by her grandchildren Nicole, Tamilyn, Jennifer, Stephanie, and Christopher; by her great-grandchildren Ashley, Kyle, Andrew, Bradley, Noah, Julien, and Benjamin, by her sister Otelia and brother Manolo, and by her neighbors and friends in San Jose. We recall her enjoyment of time spent entertaining her grandchildren in her home and in the garden, her love of company, her enthusiasm for flower arranging and for decorating, her fondness for the songbirds she fed every day, her love of life and of celebration. We remember her preparing festive dinners for all her family. She is uniquely irreplaceable and will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation Friday, January 14, from 2 - 9 p.m., and service Saturday, January 15, 1:30 p.m. with gravesite service to follow, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, 300 Curtner Avenue, 408-297-2447. Friends in attendance are invited to the family home after the service. The members of the family offer our thanks and appreciation to the people of Odyssey Hospice for their attentive care of our mother.

So many wonderful memories of "Miss Peck" and the whole crew in the Silver Department at the Emporium. She would be so proud of me....I still remember the names of most of the patterns and companies they were with! I hope she and I will someday meet for that cup of coffee. My condolences to all of her family. Sorry I can't be there.
