Ray Taft Obituary

Ray Taft

May 23,1945 to Jan. 2, 2011

Resident of Half Moon Bay

Passed away peacefully at home with family. Ray was a native Californian born to Ray and Zada Taft in San Francisco. He attended Hillsdale High and CSM and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked in the wholesale liquor business and went on to manage the family business, The Taft Swim School in San Mateo. Ray had a lifetime interest in cars -his favorites were his 1958 Tuxedo Corvette and his 1966 VW Bug. He also loved the water-he was an avid boater, swam competitively, and was a member of the Harbor Patrol. He cherished his final years with his wife Vicki in their cosy beach house overlooking the ocean.

Loving husband of Vicki. Beloved Dad of Cara (Scott), Ray (Fiona) and Ben. Proud Grandpa of R.J., Ray and Matthew. Cherished friend to his sisters and brother in law, nieces and nephews. Survived by his sister (Lynn). Also, caring owner of Tookee and Elvis.

Despite many years of poor health, Ray lived his life with courage, dignity, humor and love. Friends and family are invited to gather at Sam's Chowder House, Half Moon Bay between 2-7 pm, on Friday, Jan 14 for a celebration of Ray's life. In lieu of flowers, donation are requested for Senior Coastsiders, 535 Kelly Ave, HMB, CA 94019 (seniorcoastsiders.org)

I miss you Dad...I really miss you. The world seems a lot bigger now. It hasn't hit me that you are really gone. :(

Cara, I am not good expressing myself with words, but Rick and I are thinking of you. If you need a friend, I have a shoulder to cry on

Ray,
What a beautiful legacy you leave with Cara & RJ. You've done each other proud with the love, sharing and caring you've all shown to family and friends. You are missed, but especially by your strong and beautiful daughter. Give her signs now and then when your spirit is about as they will mean so very much to her and us as she's been so very generous sharing her love and gratitude for you, her father.

While I didn't get to know you as well as others, I do know your daughter Cara. Cara is a wonderful, caring person, so I know that you are an amazing person. Your passing is not easy for those who love you, but I believe you were happy and I'm glad that you lived the high life all the way through. The rest of us down here will do our best to continue to embrace those you love and those who loved you for all that you were. With my smiles, hugs and tears, Gisele.

Ray
I only met you once and you treated me like family, your warm heart and compassion for others beamed in your smile. Your daughter Cara has been a wonderful friend for the last ten years and she gets everything she has in her from you. May we all be as lucky as you have been in your life. My prayers to your family and to you on your next journey. Lou Dynes and Family.

I am a friend of his daughter Cara and I know that he was so proud of her accomplishments as well as her family! I know that he is smiling down on his family and friends and is driving the streets of gold in a corvette! He is resting peacefully with no illness or pain, only to see everyone again some day!
