Rick- thank you to Rick for everything he did for others, including the track & field community. Had an opportunity to spend some extra time with him at meets and a P.E. conference which I will always cherish. He is missed by so many.

Rick "Milam" was my Track and Cross Country Coach for my time at Homestead and instilled a zeal for excellence beyond running to everything one did just by his unstinting guidance and passion for running and life. He was always there for us as a leader and friend. If you sought out challenge, he was there to help you meet it and do well, and for years after. I owe a debt of gratitude for instilling a work ethic that let me excel in college rowing: I couldn't have done it without those years of guidance, encouragement, and selflessly sharing his innate joy by constructive unity. He made me realize hard work was fun and rewarding, an important life lesson.

Rick Milam was my son's Great Uncle and the word great is not a big enough word to describe the person he was. He touched us in so many ways as a family member. Keylan and I thought the world of him ... even hundreds of miles away. He always had a joke or funny story for us. God blessed us with a wonderful man and he will be greatly missed.

Rick was a very special person. If you needed it, he would give you the shirt off his back. He lived with my sister for 20+ years, and for that alone he has earned his wings. He knew what it meant to be a friend. I will miss you greatly.

I had the extreme pleasure of coaching Rick in basketball when he was in the 8th grade at Mt Carmel in Redwood City. What a wonderful and dedicated competitor he was.
Later we became very close while attending CSM together. He just couldn't do enough to help in any way possible.
I was so fortunate to run into him 2 years ago, after a long separation. He will be missed

Rick was one of the people I always looked forward to seeing when I attended either a track meet or a cross-country meet. His greatest gift to all of us was his smile and his great sense of humor. I will miss his professionalism. As great as he was professionally, he was even a greater person. We will all miss you.

Rick will always be a part of my fond memories of track and field at Los Gatos High School. I can still hear his voice over the loudspeaker and can see his kind smile that was always on his face even when running a tightly scheduled track meet. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

A wonderful and happy man who will sorrowfully be missed. May every hair on your head turn into a candle to light your way to heaven, and the track downhill all the way to your door.

Rick was outstanding at every endeavor he became involved with. He was a truly dedicated and efficient announcer, coach and meet director just to mention a few of the things he was involved in. He was one of those rare individuals who always had time for his friends. He would stop, visit & show true interest in everyone. He made you feel you were important to him & that he treasured your friendship.

I'm a better person for known Rick. I already miss him.

My deepest sympathies to Rick's immediate family, Brian and Leroy. I also want to thank everyone who has provided support to Leroy, Willie, and I through this very difficult time. There are not enough words to describe this loss, I will simply say that Rick Milam was a one of a kind, no, a once in a lifetime. Thank you for sharing yourself with me, my family, and anyone who was lucky enough to have had you cross their paths. Until next time my dear friend.
