Robert Cole Obituary

Robert David Cole

59 year Millbrae resident

Born April, 13, 1921, Robert David Cole, a third generation native San Franciscan and 59 year Millbrae resident passed on December 26, 2010. He was an Eagle Scout, World War II vet, president of Abbot, Cole and DeGraf, a Paint and Coatings Association member and 50 year member of Green Hills Country Club. He was an avid golfer and proud member of Atria's blackjack and bingo group. He loved creating colorful artwork. He would say, "I may not know art, but I know what I don't like." He cherished his friendships and was known for his good nature and great sense of humor.

He is survived by his four children: Patty, Prescott, Dorian and B.J; his eight grandchildren, great-grand daughter, cousin Claire, wife Joan, her sons Bruce and Craig and their families. He is pre-deceased by his first wife Alice and Patty's bridesmaid, Maude Cole. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

There will be a gathering in his honor on January 9th at 1:30 at the Atria in Burlingame. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform (www.canhr.org)

I have known Patty and Prescott for some time and met Bob through them. He was a very pleasant person to be with and I am so sorry he is no longer with you. It is important that you keep the many wonderful memories of him to help you realize his contributions in your lives. My prayers are with you for comfort during the loss. I hope to see you next Sunday.

Dear Cole Family,
I'll never forget everyone's kindness when I worked at Abbot, Cole, and DeGraf; to this day, I describe to my family this great memory.
I was a college student then hired by Rick. Not only did I learn many office skills, but I was treated with a great deal of respect, including being given a special farewell by Mrs. Cole who took me out to lunch.
Incredibly, it's now been already nearly 30 years, and though I have since married and have a daughter, I still remember the place and the faces: Mr. & Mrs. Cole, Rick, B.J., Prescott, Katie (or Kathy?) & a few other names that are at the tip of my tongue.
I was sad to see the business no longer operating when I drove by years later.
And now, with sadness, I'm uncertain if I'll be able to attend the memorial due to other commitments in January.
Nevertheless, just letting you know you're in my thoughts, and I would like to express my deepest condolences for the loss of a very
kind man -- Mr. Cole.

Sincerely,

Judy
