Robert Dawes Obituary

Robert John Dawes

Resident of San Jose

Mar 9, 1927 - July 12, 2010

Bob passed away peacefully in Morgan Hill, CA, at Pacific Hills Manor Convalescent Home after suffering a stroke more than 5 years ago. He was born to Esther Mosbeck and Gordon Dawes in Centralia, WA. He served in the US Navy during World War 2 before marrying Donna Sorenson and settling in MN, then relocating to Bremerton, WA and San Jose, CA, where he lived for many years. He owned two car businesses, the last of which was located on Stevens Creek Boulevard in San Jose.

He is survived by daughter Geri Gilkey, grandsons Ryan and Erin Cockrell (Michelle); daughter Susan Read (Mel), granddaughter Tami Read Schween (Barry) and great-granddaughters Isabel, Jordan and Jessica Schween. Bob had a big smile and a great sense of humor, his friends and family will miss him terribly, but take great comfort in knowing that he is at peace and free of all pain and suffering.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 11:30 a.m. at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church of Silicon Valley, 271 West Edmundson Avenue, Morgan Hill, CA 95037.
