I worked with Bob for many years when I was a pilot with the Bar Pilots. He was one of our best boat operators. Sorry for your loss

I am very saddened to hear of Bob's passing. I knew him to be a fine man. I first met Bob when we worked on pier 9 in San Francisco around 1980. He was a great boat operator and always had a good story to tell. I continued to work with Bob right up thru his career with the Bar Pilots where he was highly regarded as a skilled sailor. He loved to talk about so many things: the green pan cakes he made for his children and grand children (he called them gaskets), the time he hit Harding Rock buoy with his fishing boat in the fog when it had been taken underwater by a strong tide, the way he knew everyone at Fisherman's Wharf and how he loved Red's Java House as much as I did. And, the cannon, you can't forget the cannon. Guy's like Bob are a rarity. I doubt that I shall meet his like again.

Dear Family and Friends of Bob Miller,
I was a pilot from 1977 until 2007.
Bob was one of my favorite boat captains.
I never had any doubts about him getting me on or off another vessel when his sure hands where on the wheel. I was sorry when he retired. He must be a great loss to you. He was a fine sailor and good friend.
Best wishes
Captain Paul Lobo

Embrace the comfort of knowing that he is now a guardian Angel watching over you. He is now walking with the Lord.
