Rosina Zolezzi Obituary

Rosina T. Zolezzi

April 4, 1912 - Dec. 18, 2010

Resident of San Mateo

Endearing to all who knew her, Rosina passed away peacefully at home in San Mateo at the age of 98.

Born in San Francisco, she attended Galileo High School, and in 1928 had the honor of being crowned Queen of Columbus Day. She later married Earle Taylor, a San Francisco banker, with whom they had a daughter, Laurel, and eventually made their home in Atherton, where Rosina excelled as a homemaker, with sewing and dress designing as her special talent. Earle preceeded her in death in 1968, and in 1971 she married Dr. John Zolezzi, a San Francisco dentist, with whom she shared a wonderful life which included many pleasurable travels, dinner dancing, and happy gatherings with family and friends. She was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church, Italian Catholic Federation, Children of Mary and Sacred Heart Oakwood Auxiliary in Menlo Park. Following John's death, she moved to Sterling Court in San Mateo, where she made many lovely friends.

Throughout her life, Rosina touched the hearts of many with her warm and outgoing affectionate ways, ready smile, positive attitude, and memorable Italian cooking. She was an impeccable hostess who made everyone feel welcome, and loved people, music, holidays and happy times. She had a deep faith in God, and prayed often. She exuded love. She was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will be a part of us always.

Rosina is survived by her daughter, Laurel Cole and son-in-law Bill Wood of Half Moon Bay, granddaughter Cameron McIntosh Crowley, son-in-law John Crowley and great granddaughters Claire Crowley and Madeline Crowley of San Mateo, stepdaughter Jane Wallace and her husband Kevin Wallace of Sunnyvale, stepson Ron Zolezzi and wife Mary Zolezzi of Menlo Park, step granddaughter Sandra Olsen and her husband Glen Olsen of San Jose, step granddaughter Gina Rodriguez, her husband Mark Rodriguez and step great grandson Nico Rodriguez of San Jose, and a special nephew, Thomas Fennone of San Rafael.

Special thanks to her devoted caregivers, Mira Bulawan and Maritess De Mesa, as well as to Sutter Hospice, for their love, concern and support, and to Sarah St. Charles and all the wonderful staff at Sterling Court for providing a friendly and loving atmosphere in her final years.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1310 Bayswater Avenue, Burlingame.
