Soledad (Sally) Hernandez Chavez

Resident of San Jose, CA

Born in Somis, CA March 30, 1926 - Dec. 3, 2010. Passed away at the age of 81 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Alzhiemers, congestive heart failure, kidney failure and diabetes at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Catarino & Bernarda Hernandez, she is one of 15 loving brothers & sisters. She met Joe Jack Chavez in 1945, married and settled in San Jose. They were married for 55 years until his death.

She was a homemaker and raised 8 children, Joe Chavez, Alex Manual Chavez, Leonard Chavez, Katherine Chavez Napoli, Constance Marie Pfennighausen, Arthur Chavez, Aaron Lawrence Chavez (deceased), and Cynthia Louise Ramos. After raising her children, in her 60's she returned to school and graduated from Cosmetology school.

Her beloved smile will be missed by all that knew her, especially her 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Rosary Fri 12/10/10 4:00PM, Funeral Mass Sat 12/11/10 at 1:00 PM. both services to be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 325 Willow Street, San Jose, CA. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA.
