Sylvio Rosingana Obituary

Sylvio J. Rosingana

Long time resident of Los

Altos and Santa Clara County

August 4, 1920-Sept. 7, 2010

Aged 90 years. Former proprietor of Cherry Chase Liquors in Sunnyvale. Proud Veteran of World War II, serving his duty in the Army's 18th infantry regiment, Big Red 1. His courage and valor earned Sylvio a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Upon his return to the United States, Sylvio embarked upon a new career as the owner of a popular nightclub in Reno, Nevada, where he entertained many famous and regular customers like Jayne Mansfield and Sammy Davis, Jr., most of whom became some of his dearest friends. Most importantly, Reno is where Sylvio met Nada Hebert, and the two moved to California, and were married. There they raised three boys, despite their divorce after 13 years of marriage. Sylvio continued to maintain Cherry Chase Liquors for almost 25 years; a successful business, no doubt due to his sociable and amusing manner.

He leaves behind his sons Mike Fruge (Rhonda), John (Katherine) and David (Erica) Rosingana. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Kaylee, Michael Ryan, and Emily.

Services will be a Memorial Mass to be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Simon's church located at 1860 Grant Road, Los Altos. The burial will be on Monday, September 27, 2010, at the Dixon Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, located at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California, 95620.

John & David,
I will miss your dad's calls every holiday. Many of my fondest memories are running around in the liquor store with the german shepards and bugging your dad. I still have the birthday card he made me when I turned 12. I will treasure it as I did him. So glad my mom and I got to see him earlier this year.

John and David - It brought great sadness to my heart to hear about Syl's passing...I remember your Dad with great fondness. He was a wonderful man and I will remember him always. Please know that, although I cannot attend his services, I will be keeping him and you in my thoughts.
