Terrence McTeague Obituary

Terrence Rynn McTeague

Long-time restaurateur of Stonington, CT, and San Jose, CA, died peacefully October 21, 2010, at the age of 73 with his family at his side. Raised in West Hartford, CT, Terry moved to California in his early 20's to play college soccer at Monterey Peninsula College and the University of San Francisco. Following college he moved to San Jose, CA, to manage and later own the Fog Horn Restaurant. In the summer of 1989 Terry and his family left San Jose and returned to Connecticut to own and operate the Harborview and Skippers Dock Restaurants in the Stonington Borough. Many will remember Terry hollering "Hey Buck-O" across the restaurant, then walking over to welcome them to their seats. His days were spent bringing smiles to the faces of all those around him and lending a helping hand. Terry had returned to California on August 28th and was excited to be back. He was again using his considerable expertise to design food delivery systems for adult care facilities.

Terry is survived by his loving wife Virginia of Santa Cruz, and four children: Rynn of Santa Cruz, Teryn of Mystic CT, Shaymus of Los Gatos, and Shaylyn of Oakland. He also leaves his brothers and their wives; Daniel and Daryl McTeague of San Jose, CA, and Emmett and Barbara McTeague of Tiverton, RI. He was predeceased by his brother Bert and his parents Raymond and Kathryn McTeague. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Dominican Hospital Foundation, 1555 Soquel Drive, Santa Cruz, CA 95065, are preferred by the family.
