Van Beane Obituary

Van Buren Beane

Resident of San Carlos

Passed away Saturday after a three and half year courageous battle against cancer. For those of us fortunate enough to call Van a Friend, his love of life, generosity, and compassion for others will be greatly missed.

Van was born in San Francisco, CA in 1948, and graduated from El Camino High School in South San Francisco, CA in 1966. Following high school, Van enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorable discharged from the United States Marine Corps, Van returned home to South San Francisco to start a family. Van and Rebecca were married in 1969 and started a family in 1971. Van began his career which evolved into his lifelong passion with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 85 in 1968, and served the local until his retirement in 2009. Van held numerous positions with Local 85 during his twenty plus years in office, spending his last 12 years as the principal officer for Local 85 (Secretary-Treasurer).

Van is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca; three sons Van, Beau(Jessica) and Jay; two grandchildren Brandon and Cameron and two sisters Beverly and Pamela. Van was preceded in the afterlife by his brother Robert and parents Van and Ada Beane. Special Thanks to all Health Care Professionals who with love provided care and assistance during his illness. We would like to thank our friends and extended family for all their love and support.

Friends may visit after 6 pm and are invited to attend a Vigil Service, 7 pm on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at SNEIDER & SULLIVAN & O'CONNELL'S FUNERAL HOME, 977 So. El Camino Real in San Mateo. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 880 Tamarack Avenue in San Carlos. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
