Verna Marie (Warren) Ford passed from this life on August 19, 2013 in Redding CA. Verna was born in Albany, OR in 1923. Verna worked for the Palo Alto Unified School District for 30 years as a cafeteria cook and manager. She was followed in death by her husband of 67 years, Delbert Elmer Ford on November 1, 2013. Delbert was born in 1920 in Spokane, WA. They moved to Redding in 2008 after living in the same home in Palo Alto for 58 years.
Delbert served in the Naval Reserve for over 40 years and was on the USS Nashville during the Doolittle Raid. He worked as a shipfitter and general foreman at the San Francisco Naval Shipyard until it closed and then worked for the Athletic Department at Stanford University taking care of the swimming pools. He was extremely active in Boy Scouting for over 50 years, serving both as a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster.
They are survived by their children, Michael (Frances) Ford of Arnold CA and Colleen (Warren) Lytle of Redding, CA and by Verna's sister Velma Lucas of San Jose. They also leave five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3149 Waverly St., Palo Alto, CA on Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 PM.
