William C. Powell Bill Powell passed away on April 3, 2009 following a valiant fight against cancer. Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Constance; his beloved children, Michelle Barrios (Steven), William L. Powell, James M. Powell (Kristi), Jennine Estes (Michael), Robert J. Powell; and stepdaughter, Jacy Bosworth (Dennis). He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Breana, Alyssa, Sierra, Steven, Brooke, Lexi, Zachary, Jaden, Brooks, and Braxton. Bill also leaves behind his loving father, William M. Powell; brothers, David Powell, John Powell, Christopher Powell; sister, Claudia Collver; and his wife's parents, Robert and Marion Flandrena. His dear mother, Anna Powell, preceded him in death. Bill was born on January 27, 1944 in Oakland, CA, grew up in Orinda, and graduated from the University of California Davis. While attending college he served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and was honorably discharged in 1969. His career in commercial real estate brokerage and development, spanned 40 years. Bill will be remembered for his devotion to his family, and his love of the outdoors. He had a variety of interests. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a cowboy at heart. He also had a passion for history, collecting historical artifacts, and growing orchids. Bill was greatly admired and loved, and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 9th at 1:30 pm at Oak Hill Funeral Home, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory 'in support of cancer research' made out to Stanford University may be sent to the Office of Medical Development, 2700 Sand Hill Rd., Menlo Park, CA 94025.
