Bill, a successful business executive, sports enthusiast, intellectual and lover of fine things died at Stanford Hospital at age 68. Bill suffered an injury sustained from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.
Bill was born in Chicago on the northwest side. At Lane Tech he was a student in the Commercial Arts program but also a standout triple sport athlete.
Bill's achievement as a high school football player resulted in a scholarship to attend Purdue University. He played for the Boilermakers on offense and defense during his four year tenure. He graduated from Purdue in 1963 with an Industrial Arts degree.
Bill spent 15 years at Intel during its rise, first in regional sales and then in world-wide sales management. He became the chief sales executive for the Quantum, Sonic-Wall and Switch and Data companies and the CEO of PC Tel Inc. Bill and his wife Alicia built a home in Los Altos Hills in 1998 where they have resided since. Having retired from business in 2009, Bill enjoyed playing golf with friends at Sharon Heights where he and Alicia are members.
Bill was an avid reader and a lover of fine food and wine. He and Alicia were frequent visitors to most of the Bay area fine eateries. His love of music was fine tuned by his particular fondness for rock and roll and his passion for jazz. He and Alicia regularly attended concerts both in the Bay area and on their trips to New York City were they loved to spend time.
Bill's love for life was best exemplified by his love for Alicia who he adored, his sons for whom he was a friend and trusted advisor and the grandchildren he doted on. Bill is survived by his wife Alicia, sons, Zac, Adam and David, grandchildren (Justin, Chase, Sarah, William, David, Nicholas, Julia and brothers Don and Gerry. He is preceded in death by siblings Judy and Jim.
Friends are welcome to attend Bill's memorial service on Saturday Nov. 10, at the Alta Mesa Memorial Park Chapel at 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, CA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Bill's honor to Hope Services, 30 Las Calinas Lane, San Jose, CA 95119.
