Yas Shimoguchi

Resident of Sunnyvale

Yasuo (Yas) Shimoguchi passed away on Saturday, October 16th at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, May; daughter, Jean; son-in-law, Denny Takahashi; brother, Sam Shimoguchi and his wife, Kuni; sister-in-law, Yoneko Morishita; brother-in-law, Moffet Ishikawa; and several nieces and nephews.

Yas was a 39-year veteran of Hewlett-Packard and the first Japanese American hired by the company. Always a strong supporter of the Japanese American community, he was an active member of the Mtn. View Buddhist Temple since its origins almost 50 years ago, serving as a Board Member and Dharma (Sunday) School teacher for over 30 years.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 25, at 2:00pm at the Mtn. View Buddhist Temple, 575 N. Shoreline Blvd, Mountain View, CA.

Yas was well-liked by many HP employees. I was saddened to hear of his passing, but he had a good, long life. He will be missed.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Yas's passing. Yas was a good friend and co-worker.

It is comforting to know he will be with Linda and both of them will be together to look after your families.
