Resident of Gilroy, CA
Joel Aguilera, Sr. was born on October 8, 1929 in Arizona to Leopoldo and Margaret Aguilera. A resident of Gilroy, CA, he passed away surrounded by his family the morning of November 6, 2011, at the age of 82 from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. He lived In Milpitas where he worked for the Ford Motor Company plant for 22 years, and was very active in the UAW Local 560. Joel was also an advocate of several community organizations and local politics. He had a passion for farming and could grow just about anything. After moving to Gilroy in 1981, to begin his retirement, he became a member of the Gilroy Apostolic Church and became president of the Men's Auxiliary (Varones).
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hope; sons Joel Jr. (Jackie), Jacob (Rosie), and James (Sharon); daughter Joyce (Kenyon); 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Joel is also survived by sisters Sarah Rocha and Rachael Meza and brother Isaias. He was preceded in death by his daughter Judy (Danny); sisters Nicolasa Cabigas, Mary Socorro Mapalo, Esther Ramirez; and brother Enoch.
You are invited to attend a visitation and evening service at the First Apostolic Church, 480 McCreery Avenue in San Jose on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 1:00pm, Oak Hill Funeral Home's Chapel of the Oaks, 300 Curtner Avenue in San Jose.
