Resident of San Mateo
Passed away peacefully on April 3, 2012, her 101st birthday. Born on April 3, 1911 in Shrednik, Lithuania, she immigrated to the United States with her family around the age of two. They settled in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Lee moved to Chicago as an adult, and then California, making the San Francisco Bay Area her home. She was one of six children, known earlier in her life as Sarah Lee.
She is survived by her daughters Deena and Susan and her son-in-law, Steve. Lee was an exceptionally devoted mother, from the start and right up to her last words. A beloved resident of The Peninsula Regent in San Mateo for over thirteen years, she was admired by many for her determination, her sharp mind (she was a Life Master in bridge), her sense of style and her warm humor. She will be fondly remembered for her abounding love, empathy and compassion.
