John Otis Carrington

Resident of Redwood City

Affectionately known as Papa John by his family died April 11, 2012 at the age of 89. He was the son of the late Otis and Alma Carrington. He is predeceased by wife Dorothy and son Clifford. He is survived by his daughter Carol LeMar, son in law Terry, daughter in law Karen, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Redwood City native, he was a graduate of Sequoia High School and attended University of Pacific before entering the Navy during WWII. He was a member of Acorn Thirteen and served our country in Bougainville in the South Pacific as an electricians mate. After the war he returned home to Redwood City where he married Dorothy Mae King. When not working as an electrician he and his family enjoyed camping and fishing together. He also enjoyed four wheeling with his jeep. He was a member of the Sirs and was a Freemason for over sixty years. He was a kind and generous man who was always willing to help others in need. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Pathways Home Health Hospice (www.pathwayshealth.org). A reception of remembrance will be held at Grace Bible Church Redwood City in the fellowship hall on Saturday April 28th at 1:00 PM.
