John Edward Bodendoerfer|
Resident of San Jose
John passed away on November 7, 2012 after a long battle with heart disease.
John was born in Milwaukee, WI, on January 26, 1935. He joined the Air Force in 1957 and was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base doing repairs on crashed-damaged aircraft. It was while at Edwards that he met his future wife of 53 years Nancy.
After leaving the Air Force, John and Nancy moved to San Jose to raise a family. He first worked for United Technology Corp. with the production of rocket motors and later pipe production. After leaving UTC, John became a manager of a Jack-In-The-Box for 6 years. His store became #1 in sales increases under his leadership and many of his ideas were used in other stores.
His true passion for his life work came in 1977 when he started his own handyman business, Able Maintenance, later to become John Able Construction. His two sons became involved in the business at various times and one continues to work in the field. Even though John retired in 2010, he was thinking of his customers and of doing projects in his final days.
He is survived by his three children, John Jr., Susan Long, and David. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Ford, of Wylie, TX, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy.
John will be buried in the Paso Robles District Cemetery next to Nancy. Services pending.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the Hospice of the Valley, 4850 Union Ave., San Jose, CA 95124.
