Christine Marie Arends Jun. 19, 1945 Jan. 2, 2014 Resident of Rio Vista Christine passed away peacefully shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer in November. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years Peter Arends. Born in Liverpool, England, Christine met and married her husband in March 1963 and four years later immigrated to America and settled in Walnut Creek. They raised three daughters, Michelle (who died in a car accident in 2009), Samantha, and Danielle. All three were involved in ice skating with the Diablo Figure Skating Club in Concord. During those years Christine was busy managing the Bella Roma Pizzaria in Martinez and also used her cooking skills in fundraising efforts for the club and her creative sewing skills making and designing skating dresses for many of the competitors. In 1991 Christine went on to use her artistic talents when buying and managing Adele's Flowers in Los Gatos. Christine and Peter resided in Los Gatos for seven years until they sold their shop and retired to live in the Trilogy Active Retirement Community of Rio Vista. They were one of the first couples to move there in 1996! Christine continued to pursue her love of cooking by serving up spaghetti feeds and corn beef and cabbage for many fund raising efforts. She also created jams and pickles for sale at the annual craft fairs. Christine will be truly missed by her loving daughter and son-in-law Samantha and Paul Miller of Martinez, daughter Danielle Arends, and grandchildren James Arends, Julia and Joey Miller, Anthony and Justin D'Lallo, Jessica and Brianna Pagan, John Marzo Jr. and great-granddaughter Alexis-Michelle; also son-in-law Robert D'Lallo of Sacramento, brother and sister-in-law Frank and Joan Randles of Liverpool, England and many cousins, nieces and nephews in England, Sweden, and Australia. A memorial service will be held at 10 A.M. January 18th, at Windborn Church, 300 Main Street, Rio Vista followed by a Celebration of her Life at the Delta Clubhouse, Trilogy. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made to the A.S.P.C.A at www.aspca.org or Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave. Stockton, CA 95240.
