Donna Jean Boitano
January 8, 1925-January 29, 2014
Resident of Sunnyvale
Donna Jean Boitano passed away peacefully on January 29 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Donna was born in Wichita, KS and moved with her older sister Dolores, to San Francisco in 1946. While working as a teller at the Bank of America she met the love of her life, Lew Boitano, who was an appraiser for the bank. They married in 1952 and moved to Sunnyvale in 1958 where they bought the home they raised their four children in - Mark, Jill, Lynn and Brian.
While the children were young Donna was the quintessential stay at home mom - watching Jack Lalanne in the morning, then shuffling kids to school and sports activities, making sure all the homework was done, and getting the extended family together during holidays. Once the older children left home Donna loved managing the skating career of her youngest son Brian, whom she called her surprise child because he was born when she was 40. Lew and Donna were fortunate to travel the world and have many rich experiences supporting Brian during his career.
Donna's friends and family remember her beautiful heart, devout faith, sense of fashion and youthful spirit. She was one of the world's best listeners and was capable of making the person she was with feel they were the most important person in the world. Donna loved to laugh and enjoyed seeing others having fun. She and Lew would often dance to Sinatra in the living room.
Donna adored her 11 grandchildren, Keli, Ashley, Natalie, Nick, Krista, Aubry, and Austin Kolegraff and Nate, Steven, Laura, and Mariana Boitano. She had 6 great grandchildren. Lew and Donna's 60 year marriage was a lifetime love affair. It made a deep impression on their children, grandchildren and those who knew them. They would often be seen holding hands and Donna's annual Valentine's Day cards to Lew would bring tears to your eyes.
She is preceded in her death by her husband Lew, her parents and most of her siblings.
Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at LIMA & CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave., Sunnyvale.
