We are blessed and fortunate to have experienced the affection, friendship, love, and joy of Vicky's presence in our lives until her passing on March 8, 2014. Oyie to her family, Vicky to her colleagues and friends, we have been privileged to enjoy her magnanimous spirit and are grateful to call her wife, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, friend, confidante, and colleague.
Victoria was born on April 21, 1945 in Manila, Philippines to 2nd Lt. Bayani P. Hernandez of the American Dominion Forces during WWII and Purita R. Santos. She spent part of her childhood in The Hospicio De San Jose in Manila. She attended Legarda Elementary School then Ramon Magsaysay High School. She graduated from The University of Santo Tomas with a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
She always wanted to serve her fellow human beings. Vicky loved people so much that she found fulfillment in her chosen career and was so proud when she passed the Philippine Board of Nurse Examinations to become a licensed nurse. As a proud and respected registered nurse among her peers and to her patients, she worked for numerous hospitals around the world, most recently at Valley Medical Center and O'Connor Hospital where she retired as a Registered Nurse.
Preceded in death by her father and her brother, Cesar, Victoria is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Rolly; mother, Purita; stepsiblings, Jeric and Egie; sisters-in-law, Yolanda and Mayette; nieces, Gigi, Kayen, and Jei; nephews, Jojo, Jhon, Henry, and Raymond; and numerous grandchildren, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
All are invited to a prayer vigil on Wednesday, March 12 at 5pm at St Victor Parish 3108 Sierra Rd, San Jose. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Thursday, March 13 at 10:30am at St Victor's Church as well. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery at 2650 Madden Ave. San Jose.
