Elizabeth Rimbach Obituary
Elizabeth Rimbach
Dec. 3, 1924 – Mar. 11, 2014
Resident of Monte Sereno
A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend, known affectionately as Liz or Betty, provided everyone she encountered with warmth and friendliness.
Born Elizabeth Lyons in Manhattan, New York, she grew up during the Great Depression. Despite many challenges for her family, she graduated from Julia Richmond High School. She spoke fondly of playing baseball, learning from her parents and grandmothers, and enjoying the company of friends. She served in the Signal Corps during WWII.
She married Arnold "Bud" Rimbach in 1947. They and their young family of two boys moved to Connecticut, and in 1957, they packed up their lives and moved to California, where her two other children were born.
She worked in the San Jose office of Del Monte Corp, but her primary job and love was that of mother. She supported, taught, and provided love, knowledge, and lifelong values including honesty, frugality, and hard work.
She spent time on the tennis and racquetball courts, as well as in the pool. Water was a great source of pleasure, and as often as possible, she spent time at the beach.
Elizabeth had a passion for, and love of language. She read extensively and never stopped learning, whether through books or her daily crossword puzzle.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, Arnold, Jr., Michael, John, and Elizabeth Ann (Betsy), and grandichildren James, Kendra, and Kristin.
