Reverend David Theodore (Ted) Fisher, S.J., 91, former professor of theology at Loyola Marymount University, died July 16, 2014 at Sacred Heart Jesuit Center, Los Gatos, after a brief illness.
Born in Fort Wayne, Ind. September 3, 1922, Ted entered the Jesuit Order in 1940 after graduation from Loyola High School, Los Angeles. He was ordained a priest in San Francisco in 1953 and did graduate studies in theology at the Gregorian University, Rome.
Ted's main ministry was in the university classroom. He served as professor of theology at Santa Clara University, Alma College, Los Gatos, and Loyola Marymount University, retiring emeritus in 1990 after 38 years on the faculty. For decades he was active in teaching theology to many groups of religious women, especially the Carmelite Sisters, and in parish adult education classes in the southland.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Fisher of Simi Valley, CA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at St. Clare's Chapel, Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara, CA 95050, with burial immediately afterwards.
