Marcelle Howard Obituary

Published by San Jose Mercury News/San Mateo County Times on Jan. 5, 2017.
Marcelle (Pat) Howard
October 23, 1924 - November 17, 2016
Resident of Saratoga
Mom left us on Thursday, November 17th, at the age of 92. Surrounded by love and compassion, she was not in pain nor was she afraid.
She came from a humble beginning in Pitcher, Oklahoma, pursued a law degree in Portland, Oregon and met the love of her life in San Francisco, California.
Married for almost 30 years to James A. Howard (deceased 1982), she stepped out of the working world to be the best mom ever. She opened the door to any/all the neighborhood kids and provided a safe place that many called home. Her genuine love for people impacted everyone she met for the better.
Mom lived life on her terms - full of love, compassion and service yet with time for adventure. She fished in Africa, danced in Red Square, watched the Passion Plays in Oberammergau and embraced many new family members in the Philippines. She cruised to Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean. She loved Hawaii and was known to dance the Macarena in Kihei or sip a Pina Colada in the hot tub at the Mauna Lanai.
A long-time member of Cupertino de Oro, Mom thoroughly enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee and a laugh with many of "her ladies." She held every one of the board positions over the years but the one she enjoyed most was Treasurer – a job she performed for over 10 years.
Mom impacted many lives but especially those of her three children, Jim (Virginia) Howard, Bob Howard and Michele (Michael) McCann and her granddaughters Madeleine McCann and Heather Howard. Her best times were spent with family and she will be missed "all there is."
A Celebration of Mom's Life will be held at Cupertino De Oro, 20441 Homestead Rd, Cupertino, CA on Saturday, January 14th, at 1pm. Please dress in bright or Hawaiian colors. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah or to a charity of your choice.
