Obituary Condolences

Henry Kirkish Longtime Sunnyvale resident Henry Kirkish passed away peacefully away June 29th. Henry was born in Michigan in 1917 and came to Sunnyvale with his family in 1922. He is fondly remembered among Sunnyvale residents as the owner of the Kirkish Store, which was founded by his parents Mike and Freda Kirkish in 1924. Henry and his brother, Bob took over the operation of the Kirkish Store from 1945 – 1995. Henry was married 58 years to his beloved Vicky, who preceded him in death. Henry was devoted to his wife, his children, St. Martin's Church, (he was a member for over 60 years), and his friends. Throughout his life he was full of smiles for everyone he met. He was a kind, gentle man who treated everyone with respect. He was appreciated for his integrity, intelligence, warmth and generosity. He once said his philosophy of life is "To treat people equally and with kindness." Henry will be missed terribly by his 3 children, Karen Streets and her husband Virgus, Vicky Marie Hanson of Eugene, Oregon, and Michael Kirkish and his wife Lisa. He is cherished by grandchildren, Aaron, Henry, Nicholas, Natalie, Gina, and Rebecca, his brother Delano, and his special nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to the Cottrell Center, St. Martin's Church, 590 Central Avenue, Sunnyvale, California 94086. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Thursday, July 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Church in Sunnyvale.
