A 59-year-old man who died Sunday after losing control of his bicycle and colliding into a tree on Highway 9 has been identified by the Santa Clara County coroner's office as Jan Lipson of Cupertino.
Lipson was traveling about 35 mph at the time of the collision, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Passers-by noticed him unconscious on the shoulder of the highway at Redwood Gulch Road about 3:50 p.m. He was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m.
