Frank J. Renda
Resident of Hillsborough
Oct. 8, 1953- July 18, 2010
Frank Renda, 56, passed away peacefully at home on July 18th 2010 after a courageous 16-month battle with lung cancer. Friends and family are invited to attend his services at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. followed by a vigil with rosary. The funeral mass will be Friday, July 23 at 10 a.m.
Frank touched many lives with his generous personality and infectious tell-it-like-it-is nature. He was born October 8, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to Tom and Joann Renda. After graduating from Dowling High School, Frank made a life for himself as a contractor, building apartments, commercial buildings and custom homes. He met his wife, Larree, while growing up in Des Moines and later married her while living in Houston Texas. Frank and Larree came to the Bay Area in 1987 and raised three children in San Mateo County.
Frank enjoyed the finer things in life-family, fashion and fast cars. A lifelong fan of baseball, one of his greatest joys was watching his sons play ball: Tommy, who was a left handed pitcher at the University of Portland and Tony, who recently finished his freshman year at Cal Berkeley where he started every game. Never has a father loved a daughter more than Frank loved his only daughter, Kristina. After graduating from the University of Portland in May, Kristina never left her fathers side, where she helped her mother with his daily care.
Frank's Midwestern heritage served him well as he was a man of principle-honest, hard-working and devoted to family. He was a self-made man who was confident, yet humble. He always believed in doing things the right way, which is evidenced by the legacy he left behind with those who love him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Larree; devoted children Thomas, 23, Kristina, 21, Tony, 19; loving siblings Vicki (Dave) Scott, Sheri Amodeo, Tom (Carol) Renda, John Renda and his father Tom Renda all of Des Moines. Frank is preceded in death by his mother, Joann.
