Evelyn M. Taylor passed away on October 23, 2010 due to complications with dementia and parkinson's.
Evelyn was an Educator and Maverick. She lived her life for the betterment of others. The programs and organizations she started or participated in have provided help to millions of people.
Evelyn was born in Austin Texas. She obtained her Masters of Arts Degree from the University of San Francisco. Evelyn has been presented with many awards, most notable are her nominations into San Mateo County's Women's Hall of Fame and her Congressional Recognition award. One of her proudest moments was the inception of Samaritan House in which she was one of the co-founders. Evelyn spent her entire teaching career, which began in 1966, in the San Mateo County Elementary School District, as a Teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal. In the Mid-70's Evelyn was elected and served three terms as President of the San Mateo Elementary Teachers Association.
Evelyn is survived by her loving and devoted children Paul Taylor of Foster City, Laurie Hagen of Cameron Park, brother Dr. Tom Manning of El Paso Texas, grandson Paul Taylor Jr. of San Mateo, and great grand-daughter Destiny Taylor of Foster City.
Friends and family may visit on Thursday, October 28th from 3m until 9pm with a Funeral Service on Friday, October 29th at 10:30am all at the Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's Chapel, 977 S. El Camino Real. Interment Service to follow at Skylawn Memorial Park.
