Richard Johnson Obituary
Richard R. Johnson May 29, 1934 - December 16, 2010 Campbell
Richard H. Johnson 1934-2010 It was just before sunrise when Richard H. Johnson took his last breath, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Ruth Ann Johnson. It was a quiet morning, December 16th, when Richard made his final journey home. Richard had a passion for hunting and fishing, a stubborn determination when it came to business, and most exceptionally a profound loyalty to his family and friends. The second born child of Reatha Cox and Aldine Johnson, Richard was born in Hanford, CA on the 29th of May in 1934. He spent his youth hiking and fishing, picking for the local harvest, and attending high school in Los Gatos, CA. He worked in the family upholstery business and was a member of the infamous Baron?s Club. After graduating Cogswell Polytechnic College in San Francisco he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Ann Severance, in February of 1957. He was proud to serve in the US Marines before settling down in Campbell to raise his two daughters, Nancy Ann Wood and Cheryl Lynn Oreglia. Richard welcomed the company of two son-in-laws, David Wood and Larry Oreglia, who joined the family in 1983. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Julie Mae Oreglia, Tamara Janette Wood, Kelley Ann Oreglia, Anthony Joseph Oreglia, Mackenzie Ann Wood, and Dante Richard Oreglia. Richard leaves behind two adoring sisters, Patricia Minor and Neva Argall, as well as a brother-in-law, Dick Minor. He has numerous devoted nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. A man of many talents, Richard spent several years selling products for Westinghouse and Burke Rubber, and then he became self-employed. He was a successful real estate broker; he dabbled in stocks, but ended up establishing DECA Rubber in Chehalis, WA. Richard is a longtime member of the Los Gatos Mason?s. Richard has a most generous spirit, renowned for his candid wisdom, and that unmistakable Swedish charm. That twinkle never far from his baby blue eyes, we remember in his very last days from his hospital bed, Richard turning to give us that famous Johnson grin. How do you say good-bye to your beloved, well Dad would put it simply, ?See you later?? and without a lot of fanfare he?d be on his way. A memorial service will be held at the Darling Fisher Memorial Home in Campbell on January 8th at 11:00.
