Marita Surace Obituary

Resident of Sunnyvale
Marita Surace passed away on Feb. 5th after a long illness. Marita was born in New York City and graduated from Hastings High School in Hastings on the Hudson, NY. She attended Georgetown University, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Finance, and later UCLA Anderson School of Business receiving her MBA in Management. She later received her Graduate Certificate in College Admissions from UC Berkeley. She worked for JP Morgan, Pepsi Co., Accenture, BroadVision, Serious Energy and Haas School of Business before starting her own firm, Application Advisors. She enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening.
Marita is survived by her husband Kevin, step-children David and Natalie, mother Edie Bazzano and step-father Pat Bazzano. She was predeceased by her father Rudolph Valdmanis.
A memorial service to celebrate Marita's life will be held on Thursday, February 16th, 2012 at 7PM at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary, 96 W. El Camino Real, Mtn.View. Please sign the online guest book at:

To Marita's Family, I am shocked to hear of her death. I'm so sorry for your loss. We were great friends at Georgetown from our first couple of days Freshman year. Simply stunned that she is gone -- far too soon.

I was saddened to read of Marita's passing in the Georgetown alumni magazine today. She was in the first class I ever attended at GU, an 8:15 am Japanese course. It was a bear of a course that required you to think in a difficult language early in the morning, but Marita could always be counted on to arrive with a positive outlook and a smile. She was a lovely person, and we were friendly throughout our time at school. My sincerest condolences to you and to your family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Marita's death. I just forwarded a college counseling opportunity to her and received the auto reply of her passing. Marita & I met at the WACAC conference in 2009, and my wife Felicia & I had a lovely dinner with you both at your house in August '09. Our deepest condolences for your loss.

I want to express my condolences for your loss - I worked with and grew to know Marita while at Broadvision. She and I had touched base every year or so since. I remember her great personal kindness to me when my daughter was born. I am saddened by her loss.

Kevin and family - thank you for an inspiring and heart-felt memorial service last evening - it really captured Marita's spirit. Our son got into engineering school thanks to Marita's coaching on his essays - she had a way of reaching young people that was truly a gift.
