Wanda Alexander Blockhus

Fulbright Scholar and Gregg Award recipient, Wanda Alexander Blockhus passed away at her home in Los Altos surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Crawford, Texas and grew up in Waco, Texas where she graduated from Baylor University with a BBA and MS in Marketing and Economics. She met her husband of nearly 57 years and moved to Minneapolis where in 1963, she graduated with her PHD from the University of Minnesota.
Wanda is survived by her husband Donald Blockhus, her sister Joyce Luck, her 4 children and their spouses - Brian (Terese), Ann (Rick), David (Victoria), Craig (Lisa), by her 10 loving grandchildren, Laura, Heather and Donna Blockhus, Matthew and Sarah Martin, Russell and Emma Blockhus, Emily, Rachel and John Blockhus.
Wanda's 42 year career in business education is marked with numerous milestones - her achievements as an educator, administrator, consultant, author and lecturer. She taught at San Jose State University for 39 years, Queensland Institute of Technology in Brisbane, Australia and The University of Tbilisi in the Republic of Georgia. Dr. Blockhus is also a three-time recipient of the Meritorious Performance Award presented by the Chancellor's office of the California State Universities.
Wanda loved to travel (all continents) and learn about different cultures. She used that knowledge to create quizzes that she shared with her colleagues, friends and family. She instilled the love of travel in her children who have then passed on that love to their children. She loved to compete each night with the contestants on Jeopardy. Wanda was a Christ centered role model who believed it was better to give than receive.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16th at Bridges Community Church - 625 Magdalena Ave., Los Altos Hills, 94024. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to San Jose State University Business School or Baylor University Business School.
