Carol Vickers Obituary

Carol S. Vickers

Resident of San Jose

Oct. 9, 1930 - May 17, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Vickers. Carol, age 81, passed away peacefully with the family by her side, holding her hands.

Carol was born in Swanton, Ohio. She moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas where she lived until the age of 15 (1945), when she and her family moved to San Jose. In 1948, Carol graduated from Campbell High School. The following June, 1949, she married Wilson R. Vickers, the love of her life.

She is survived by her loving husband Rig of 63 years, her daughter and husband Susan and Bob Cash of Stockton, her son and his wife Mark and Kimmy Vickers of San Jose, her grandson Aaron Charlesworth, and her great granddaughter Rylee Charlesworth of San Jose.

After graduation, Carol went to work for First National Bank (a.k.a. as Bank of the West). She left her position at the bank to start a family. As a parent and wife, Carol was active in the PTA and was a charter member of the San Jose Fire Bells, a group of wives who supported the San Jose firefighters.

She became interested in off road 4-wheeling and was a long time member of the San Jose Fiddle Footed Four Wheeler Club.

Some of Carols' greatest adventures were with her husband, as they climbed in their truck and explored the great outdoors of the Nevada and Arizona deserts. When asked by friends "what do you do in the desert?", she replied "we have a great time just poking around, because you never know what you're going to find!"

Carol will be best remembered for her beautiful smile that would light up any room, her quick-witted sense of humor, and her loving-kindness to all.

Private services were held on May 23, 2012.
