Richard Kuhn Johnson, MD passed away Sunday, May 27 at age 79, due to complications following cervical spine surgery. He will be remembered for his deep dedication to his patients and profound love of his family and friends.
Dick was born in Reno, NV, graduated from Lincoln High School in San Jose, received a BA from Stanford University and earned his MD at Northwestern University Medical School, where he met and married his beloved wife, Marjorie. Following his internship, residency and fellowship, he returned to San Jose where he practiced orthopaedic surgery with a specialty in Hand Surgery. He served as the Medical Director of Hand Rehabilitation affiliated with Los Gatos Community Hospital as well as Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine and Clinical Professor of Anatomy at San Jose State University. Dick was affiliated with many medical organizations, among them the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American College of Surgeons, American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Board of Counselors American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Board of Directors California Orthopaedic Association. He also had a long association with the San Jose Country Club, from caddy to member, the Sainte Claire Club and Rancheros Visitadores.
Dick is survived by his devoted daughters, Victoria (Tori) and Margaret (Marni), his adored granddaughters, Nicola and Emma and his dearly loved sons-in-law, Leonard and Sean. His beloved wife, Marjorie, passed away in December of 2008. He will be deeply missed by all.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 1pm, at the Darling Fischer Chapel of the Hills, 615 N Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos, followed by a reception at the Sainte Claire Club at 65 E Saint James Street, San Jose, at 2:30pm.
