Benjamin Bruce Panconi
Resident of Pleasanton
Benjamin Bruce Panconi passed away on September 21, 2012, at the age of 81. He was predeceased by his parents Guido Yolanda, as well as by his brother, Carlo. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ann; his loving children David (Michele), Edward (Andrell), Michael (Cathy); his adored five grandchildren, Ben, Anne, Danielle, Ali, Devin; his sibling Janice (Dave); his sister-in-law Milly and brother-in-law John (Bob).
Born in Oakland, California, on April 22, 1931, he was raised in San Leandro. After graduating San Leandro High School, he joined the US Navy and was stationed in Hawaii and Asia. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Ann Hampel, and they raised their family in Fremont, California. He graduated San Jose State University in 1962 and shortly thereafter became a father of twin boys and a third son four years later.
He loved to work with flowers, cook, and travel. He worked in purchasing management for CSAA, Wells Fargo Bank, and retired from Applied Materials. After retiring he continued his passion for flowers as the owner of Flowers by Ben.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Wednesday, September 26, starting at 5:00pm. A Vigil Service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 7:00pm, and the Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, all at Sorensen Chapel: 1140 B Street, Hayward, 94541. Committal will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
