Harold Edward "Skip" Adams

At peace on November 12, 2012 in Santa Clara at the age of 86. Predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Pauline; beloved father of Steven Adams of Newbury Park and Brian Adams of San Jose; cherished father-in-law of Annemarie Adams of Newbury Park and Gina Adams of San Jose; adored grandfather of Melody Adams, Nicholas Adams, and Jeffrey Adams; great-grandfather of Alicia Farrell, Orieana Vasquez, and Donovan Vasquez; beloved brother of Mary Jane Cartwright and the late Dorothy Johnson and Harley "Rock" Adams; son of the late Harley Joseph Adams and Dorothy Irene Patnude; loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Skip was a decorated member of the U.S. Marine Corps having served his country during World War II at the Battle of Iwo Jima, and achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant stationed at Camp Pendleton during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed a long career as a ceramic tile layer and business agent for the local Tile Layers Union. A prayer vigil service will be held on Sunday, November 18, at 7:00 p.m. at Darling Fischer Garden Chapel, 471 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose, with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the above location. A Funeral Mass will take place Monday, November 19, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 4601 Hyland Ave., San Jose, followed by military honors and interment at Calvary Cemetery, San Jose. Donations in memory of Skip are encouraged in support of Hospice of the Valley (hospicevalley.org), Semper Fi Fund (semperfifund.org), Breathe California (lungsrus.org), and/or Digital Clubhouse Network/Spirit of 45 (spiritof45.org).
