Timothy (Tim) Riley Obituary
Timothy (Tim) Carr Riley
December 21, 1944-October 11, 2012
Resident of Montara
Tim Riley, 67 years old, died unexpectedly from a brain hemorrhage on October 11th. Tim was born on December 21, 1944, in Vallejo, CA and was the son of Frederick H. and Helen Riley (n#233;e Aiassa). He grew up in San Mateo and was a long-time resident of Montara. Tim graduated from San Mateo High and attended UC Berkeley. He spent two years in the Peace Corps, serving a small village in India. In Tim's late 20s (and beyond), his love for life and curiosity inspired him to travel the world and to fulfill his adventurous spirit. After more than 30 years of hard work and good laughs, Tim retired from American Airlines.
Tim's greatest joy was his sons, Sean and Seamus. He was forever proud of his boys. Growing up, his sons spent happy days camping, fishing, BBQing and watching football with their dad. During retirement, Tim relished every day, enjoying photography, cooking, blues music, a good bottle of wine and spending time with family.
Tim is survived by his two sons, Sean and his wife, Ann Marie, Seamus and his long-time love, Kathy; his brother, Patrick and sister-in-law, Karen; his sister, Margaret Heffernan and brother-in-law, Jack. Fond memories of Tim will remain forever in the minds of his nephews and nieces, his uncle (Raymond Aiassa), many cousins and extended family. Over the last few years, Tim was blessed by his constant companion and love, Mariette Verheecke.
Tim was a wonderful and loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be remembered for his brilliant sense of humor, his optimistic attitude and his radiant spirit. Tim will truly be missed by those lives he touched and enriched with his love, compassion and wisdom. No services were held. Family requests donations at The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, www.themmrf.org.
