Ruth Ann Ira Anderson Resident of Campbell December 21, 1920 January 30, 2013 Ruth Ann Ira was born in Stockton, California to Florence and Grover Ira. The Iras lived in Stockton for several years before moving to Palo Alto in 1931. Ruth's sisters Barbara and Betty were her close companions for life, and theirs was a loving and devoted family. Ruth grew up in Palo Alto, attended Palo Alto schools, the First Baptist Church, and San Jose State University. She married Arved William (Bill) Anderson in 1943. They lived in Palo Alto until 1978 when they moved to El Sobrante and Bill worked for the DMV there until his retirement in the early eighties. While in the East Bay, the Andersons were members of the First Baptist Church of Richmond. Ruth worked for the Palo Alto School District as an attendance clerk for 18 years. While in the East Bay, Ruth was a volunteer with the Brookside Hospital Telecare auxiliary. She was also an accomplished Japanese brush painter, and did everything she undertook with skill and dedication. The Andersons moved to Sunnyvale in 1995, and in 2000, they moved to The Atrium in San Jose. Bill passed away in early 2001, and in 2002 Ruth moved to live with her daughter Betsy in Campbell. While in Campbell, Ruth volunteered with the gardening team at the Ainsley House, served on the Congregational Care team at the First Baptist Church in Palo Alto, and helped take care of both of our dogs Jack and Charlie. Ruth is survived by her daughter Betsy Anderson of Campbell; granddaughter Sarah Anderson-Buhr of Campbell; sister Barbara Gladman of Halifax, Nova Scotia; cousin Patricia Schaad of Williams; many dear nieces and nephews; many dear friends, including Carin Borden of Vacaville, Thelma Parodi of Palo Alto, Ida Becker of Helendale, Marjorie Larney of Emeryville, Nancy Perry of Campbell, Elizabeth Lucero Ramirez, who took care of Ruth so ably at the end of her life, and our dog Charlie. She lives forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on February 20th at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, 305 North California Avenue, Palo Alto, California.
