Walt Waltner
Feb. 9th,1930- Feb. 13th 2013
Resident of Morgan Hill
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants." Psalm 116:15
Walt was born in 1930, and grew up in a Mennonite farming community in Marion, South Dakota. At 19, he joined the US Air Force. He was in the USAF for 26 years, serving in many places, including 12 years in Germany, 4 years in Japan, a short time in Korea, a year in Vietnam, and various US bases. During his service in Vietnam (May 1966-April 1967) Walt was awarded The Bronze Star Medal. While in the service, he attended night school and earned 3 degrees; in Political Science/History; Systems Management; and Education.
After leaving the service, he taught Political Science/History at the college level for a short time. Then he worked in the Electronics Industry for many years, as a Materials Manager. He has been an active member of Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church for 27 years.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lesley; daughter, Lisa, in King City (husband Rick, and 2 sons: Josh and Chris); daughter Rene, in South Dakota (2 daughters: Amy and Theresa); step-daughter, Bethany, in Sacramento (husband, Aaron, and 2 children: daughter Lillian, and son, Luke): and son, Ed in San Jose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Dean, and by his two brothers, Lyle and Dwight.
There will be a Memorial Service for Walt at 10:30am on Saturday March 9th, 2013, at the Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church, 16970 DeWitt Ave, Morgan Hill (corner of W Dunne/DeWitt). All welcome.
