Martin Scarpace
September 11, 1924-February 23, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Marty passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. Martin was born in Milwaukee, WI. Marty served in the Merchant Marines in WWII. Following the war, he attended UC Berkeley. He then worked for his cousin AC Morici at Contadina. He later opened his own food brokerage company in 1963 called Martin Sales Company, Inc. in San Jose.
Marty was a member of the Elks Club and IAHF. Marty also served on the civil grand jury in 1956. Marty was a member of the San Jose Country Club. Marty had many hobbies. He had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying often to pursue his hobbies of fishing, golfing and hunting.
Marty's happiest times were spent with his family. Marty is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Scarpace; his son Marty Scarpace Jr.and his daughter Kristin Giammona; his grandchildren Matthew Giammona, Gabriella Scarpace, Mia Giammona, Francesca Scarpace and Antonio Scarpace. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass be will held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Christopher Church, 1576 Curtner Avenue, San Jose. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Marty's name to Sacred Heart Nativity School 310 Edwards Ave., San Jose, CA 95110.
