Lillian Wurzel passed away March 6, 2013,in San Jose, at age 100. Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, Lillian graduated from high school with honors, at age 16 ½. She attended UCLA, UC Berkeley, and received a Master's degree from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. During World War II, Lillian worked for the Red Cross, as a "field director," and received a commendation from President Truman. Lillian had a 65-year career in Social work-all in the medical field working at the Contra Costs County Hospital and the Social Services Department in Santa Clara County. Lillian was on the board of the Homemaker Agency (which later combined with Visiting Nurses Assoc.) and at one time was President of the Board of the Visiting Nurses Assoc., Outreach and the Network of Aging Providers. She was also on the board of Chai House, a library trustee for the City of Santa Clara Library, and on the Santa Clara County advisory committee for the Public Authority - representing seniors (Homemaker program). Lillian was laid to rest at Hillside cemetery in Los Angeles.
