Carrel Wesley Ewing of Reno, Nevada passed away on June 29, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. He was 76. Son of Carrel and Gladys Ewing of Sutter, Illinois, Mr. Ewing was born on March 7, 1937 in Quincy, IL. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1959 with a degree in engineering and became a member of the US Army Reserves. Mr. Ewing married Gayle Ann Kissick of Kansas City, Kansas in October 1962.
Mr. Ewing enjoyed a full career in the technology business, starting his career with IBM. He later joined Masstor Systems before founding Server Technology Inc. in 1986. Mr. Ewing was Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Server Technology Inc. until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle; his son, Brandon and his wife, Niki, of Reno, NV; his daughter, Wendy and her husband, Ted, of Hutchinson, KS; his son Spencer and his wife, Stephanie, of Palo Alto, CA; and seven grandchildren. His sister, Pat Freiburg, of Quincy, IL survives him as well.
A private Celebration of Life is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Carrel Ewing to the Nevada Humane Society (www.NevadaHumaneSociety.org) or to Stanford University Medical Center (www.MedicalGiving.Stanford.edu) to benefit research being conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Norton.
