Mary Garsha peacefully entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the age of 92 to join her beloved husband Manny of 48 years. Mary is survived by her adoring daughter Nancy Crain and son-in-law Ron Crain. Dear stepmother of Norma Nicolette (Deceased) and Lydia Garcia. Cherished grandmother of Melissa (Crain) Geissinger and Kenneth Crain. Loving Step grandmother of John Nicolette, Lisa Olivieri, Mary Ann Clarke, Joseph Rosina, and great grandmother to numerous great-grandchildren. Dear sister of John DeMaria (deceased).
Born in San Jose in 1921, Mary was a daughter of survivors of the 1906 Earthquake. She enjoyed a wonderful life in the Willow Glen area. She was the quintessential homemaker, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was making her family happy and feel cared for. She enjoyed baking as well as cooking wonderful meals of her Italian heritage. In later years she enjoyed gardening in her backyard, surrounding her home in an abundance of flowers. Mary moved to Sebastopol in 2009 with her Daughter and Son-in-Law and enjoyed the small town life which reminded her of San Jose in the early years.
The family is deeply appreciative of the care, support and friendship of Santa Rosa's Villa Capri staff members in recent years. They are also thankful for the compassion and assistance of Santa Rosa's Memorial Hospice team members at the end of Mary's life.
Vigil Services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at LIMA FAMILY ERICKSON FUNERAL HOME, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, California. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday November 27, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the above mortuary, thence to St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1578 Curtner Avenue, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
